Fishing Report for January 23rd, 2010

For the most part the fishing on the Winnebago system has been slow. There have been several reports of sporadic white bass action on both Lake Poygan and Lake Winnebago. The walleye fishing has also been hit or miss with very few reports of consistent action anywhere on the system. There has been a very slow but steady perch bite on Winnebago in the Oshkosh area. The northern pike bite on the upper lakes has been almost nonexistent this year due to the shad explosion we experienced this summer.

In order to find consistent action we have been fishing smaller lakes off the system or highway retention ponds. We have found phenomenal action for crappie, bluegill, and smaller northern on these smaller bodies of water.

I have also shot a couple videos on ice fishing you can check them out at....
