Report for February 9th, 2009

I fished Winnebago a couple times this week. I tried a lot of the same areas I had success at last week between Neenah and Oshkosh and found those areas to be almost completely barren. I also spent some time fishing the reefs around Neenah and marked a few fish on the reefs but had a difficult time getting many to bite.

I also spent a couple days this week fishing the upper lakes and some backwaters of the Wolf River for northern. I found the northern action to be much better than the action out on Lake Winnebago. We caught good numbers of fish as well as several over 30 inches.

I fished for northern in mostly 2-4 feet of water around inflowing creeks. We mostly used lively large golden shiners under tip ups. Had the best luck setting the minnows 4-6" off the bottom. I also tried dead minnows on at least one tip up everyday and never had a flag.

Good luck out there to everyone
